Ripley

Dating back to as far as Norman times, the alluring village of Ripley is steeped in rich history; even boasting one of the largest and oldest village greens in the country. Yet, there’s still so much to discover and enjoy in this quintessentially English parish.

Ripley is a foodie’s haven; with an array of chic eateries, family favourites and relaxed brunch spots. In particular, ‘The Clock House’ is a fine dining experience which holds both a Michelin Star and 3 AA Rosettes- certainly not to be missed.

With ample local visitor attractions, you can be sure to have plenty of opportunity to burn those calories off too; with a National Trust membership becoming a likely investment. The sublime Hatchland’s Park, Polesdon Lacey and Clandon Park are all short distances away; the latter being the subject of an ongoing major restoration following a fire in 2015, yet still open to the public, giving a rare insight into the craftsmanship taken into caring for these historic estates.

Those seeking a spot of sport will also be equally delighted, with, no less, an official Olympic cycle route, sailing club at Papercourt Lake, cricket club and several excellent golf courses (including the welcoming Clandon Regis) in close proximity.

Within the village itself, the local community drives an active diary of events throughout the year, with something to offer for everyone. Alongside a plethora of local interest groups and hobbies, the annual Ripley Bonfire, Christmas Fair and ‘Ripley Rocks’ are firm favourites in the social calendar; whilst the monthly Farmers Market (held on the second Saturday) is a chance to sample a range of delicious produce and delicacies from local and regional sellers.

Despite its village status, Ripley has plenty of local amenities and independent shops, plus two small supermarkets to ensure you’d never need to travel far. However, it’s conveniently located just off the A3 and close to the M25, plus only six miles from Woking and seven miles from Guildford, both which are serviced by extensive rail connections – making Ripley perfectly placed for you to embrace the comfort and charm that village life offers.
